Job Description

Blakemore Construction is now looking to hire an EXPERIENCED Lube Tech/Apprentice Mechanic to fuel, lubricate, and perform PMs on heavy equipment fleet in the field. Operational areas for our job-sites are within Richmond and the surrounding counties. This position provides the opportunity for limited on the job training and is targeted for capable and motivated self-learners with strong work ethics and an ability for independent operation. The position reports to the Shop Foreman. Candidates should have an extensive knowledge of heavy equipment, truck lubrication and refueling operations and maintenance, and extensive knowledge and experience with fuel types and safe fuel handling. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of CDL driving experience and be at least 25 years of age. Competitive hourly rate based on experience. Qualifications

Essential Job Functions

  • Driving to different sites daily to refuel, grease and maintain equipment
  • Oil changes on heavy equipment and light vehicles
  • Grease machines daily
  • Fuel machines daily
  • Able to perform light repairs (ex: fix leaks, flip or change cutting edges and teeth)
  • Maintain fuel/lube truck and all products carried on truck
  • Comply with ALL D.O.T. rules and regulations
  • Keep truck clean and operational at all times
  • Assist mechanics with daily jobs
  • Help keep yard as clean and tidy as possible
  • Fill out daily log sheets/timesheets
  • Additional duties as assigned

Training and Experience

  • Class B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements
  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience, in like vehicle preferred
  • Mechanical background is preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must be able to physically lift and carry 50 lbs. and pull out hose reels for up to 150 feet
  • Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements
  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • Able to successfully pass DOT physical, drug screen and audiogram
  • Able to collaborate and communicate across the business
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

License

  • Driver’s License – Required
  • Class B CDL – Required
  • Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) and Tanker Endorsement – Preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and climb all day
  • Able to lift up to 90 pounds
  • Requires the following specific types of vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Able to work with moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, and fumes or airborne particles
  • Able to work in extreme heat and extreme cold
  • Able to work in moderate to loud work environment
  • All routes are local so you can be home every night
